Maison Dora Maar, formerly the residence of surrealist artist and photographer Dora Maar, is located at 58 Rue du Portail Neuf, 84560 Ménerbes, France. This 18th-century townhouse was purchased by Maar (gifted to her by Picasso) in 1944 and served as her summer retreat until her death in 1997. The house has since been transformed into a residency for artists, writers, and scholars, offering them a space to focus on their creative endeavors. They organise lectures and expositions regularly.
The village of Ménerbes
Ménerbes, recognized as one of “the prettiest villages of France,” is situated in the Luberon region of Provence. The village’s rich history and picturesque landscape have long attracted artists and writers, making it an inspiring setting for creative work.
